Welcome to my crafty blog, and another blast from the past with a card made using one of the very first Stampin’ Up! stamp sets I ever bought – the ‘flower shop’. I’m still catching up with all the blog challenges after my holiday and this card ticks another two from the list. I’ve gone with the middle row from TicTacToe‘s board (die-cuts, colouring & wood) and teamed it with the challenge from Inspired by. I took their design sketch and added in elements from the inspiration photo (yellow flowers & whitewashed wood)

So, onto the card. I tried out another new-to-me technique on this, which I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I rubbed ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxide across the SU ‘pinewood planks’ embossing folder and ran a piece of white card through it. It gave me a great whitewashed wood effect. I trimmed it down and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I stamped one of the flower shop flowers three times in clear ink and heat embossed them with WOW’s bright white powder. I then coloured them using ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide and a waterbrush before punching them out (I hope that counts as die cuts for TicTacToe!). I also made a few dark brown leaf sprays with another SU punch and then attached then all to the card front.

I finished with a die cut banner and stamped one of the sentiments from SU’s ‘art gallery’ set – I love the clean font on these stamps.

This card will be winging its way to a friend who I need to thank. I’m so pleased with the way the wood embossing turned out – definitely a technique to use again!
Love this!
