a glass of wine

Welcome to my crafty blog and a card for a friend who’s celebrating his birthday this weekend – and I do know that he’s partial to a cheeky little glass of red wine! Stampin’ Up!’s retired ‘half full’ stamp set was perfect for the job, and I took inspiration from this week’s sketch over at Global Design Project

I started by cutting a frame in white card, using Claritystamp’s nested rectangle dies, and then repeat stamped the line of wine glasses around it in ‘pumice stone’ Distress Oxide. I had a small gap in the centre of the long side, so masked off the stamp to just put ink on two of the glasses which then fitted in the centre. Once dry, I coloured the wine in random glasses using ‘amethyst’ and ‘poppy’ Promarkers to blend together, as I didn’t have any pens in the right shade for a decent red wine! I then attached the frame to a piece of dark red card using foam tape and popped the whole piece onto a 5×7 card blank.

I then stamped the wine bottle from the set and again coloured it by blending the Promarkers across it, adding in ‘cool grey’ for the bottle top. I fussy cut it and attached it at the side of the frame, again with foam pads.

I finished by adding a few of my favourite Glossies in grey, to just break up the centre of the frame.

Thanks for dropping in. It’s been another busy day, so I think I’ll just pour myself a small glass of vino and relax.
