happy feathers!

Welcome to my crafty blog and a quick post this evening for two reasons – first because I’m very late sharing this, and secondly because I forgot to take photos during the process! And it’s only Monday…!

I’m playing along with two of this week’s challenges with this card. The layout is courtesy of the sketch at The Paper Players and I worked with the top row of TicTacToe‘s grid – alpha dies, CAS & blue.

I started with a 6×6 card blank, and stamped the feather from the ‘Feather It’ set designed by Marion Emberson for Julie Hickey designs. I stamped a first image in ‘shadow grey’ Archival, and then offset a second one over it, which I heat embossed with WOW’s bright white superfine powder (I saw Marion do this in a recent online class – it gave a fab shadow effect). I wasn’t entirely happy with it at that point, as I didn’t think the image stood out enough, so stamped it a third time and heat embossed it with ‘metallic silver’ superfine powder.

I then die cut the large square frame from Julie Hickey’s ‘layers, frames & banners’ set in navy card, together with ‘happy using her alphabet dies. For once I’d remembered to put ‘Stick It’ on the back of the card, so the frame and letters were easy to then attach to the card front. I stamped the sentiment from Julie’s ‘mandala’ set in ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide, trimmed it down and attached it using foam pads.

I finished by adding a few dark blue Glossies around the image.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be back tomorrow to share another card.
