Welcome to my crafty blog. This week’s foray into my Clarity new design club back catalogue took me to the daisies from January 2015 and my third year of club membership. I think these were probably the first set of outline and infill stamps I had encountered – but certainly not the last!!
I was inspired to use one of the Clarity word stamps by Barbara Gray’s ‘Moment of Clarity’ Facebook live on Friday. I don’t have the ‘love’ stamp that she used, so went with ‘joy’ instead. I stamped the outline in Archival ‘watering can’ and then used ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxide for the infill.
The next step was to cover up the word with the precut reusable mask. I stamped the background in ‘bundled sage’ using the smallest of Clarity’s ‘ocean swirls’ grunge background stamps. I then repositioned the ‘joy’ infill to sit slightly below and left of the main word, and stamped it in the ‘watering can’ (I used my stamping platform for this, so it didn’t slip against the mask). This is a fantastic tip from Barbara, as it gives the word a shadow and so adds depth. I popped the ‘new baby’ sentiment above the word (this is from Stampin’ Up!’s ‘milestone moments’ set).
To finish, I stamped the NDC daisy outline in ‘watering can’ and filled in the petals using SU’s ‘fresh freesia’, with a little ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxide watercoloured into the centre, before fussy cutting it. I then mounted the topper onto a slightly larger piece of card, having blended ‘picked raspberry’ around it’s edges, and then popped the whole piece onto a 5×5 card. The final step was to glue the flower at the base of the word.
I’m going to share this over with the challenge at Fab Friday as I used their colour palette for the card.
While I had the stamps out, I also made the card in blue tones for a boy. I do like creating more than one at the same time, but they’re never identical (unless it’s twins!)
