meadow grasses birthday

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’ve been asked for a selection of birthday cards by a friend who wants to have a stash of them ready, so this is the first of several quick & easy ones that will be coming over the next few days. I was inspired by a recent walk with a friend in a local area of open ground & woodland where there were lots of grasses and field flowers in bloom, so decided to go with Claritystamp’s ‘meadow grasses’ set.

I started by die cutting a hexagonal shape into a piece of Clarity’s resusable mask material, and then positioned that onto a 6×6 card blank. I blended ‘mermaid lagoon’ and ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxides into the space, then repositioned the mask and repeated that twice more to give me the three hexagons.

I then stamped a couple of the grasses/wild flowers from the set across the hexagons using black Archival ink, and added ‘happy birthday’ from Clarity’s ‘essential sentiments’ set.

I finished by stamping the little flying bird several times, which was part of Clarity’s April craft club stamp set. It’s such a useful stamp!

Nice and simple, just the way I like it! We’ve still got warm sunny weather here on the edge of London, and it looks like it’s going to last for a few days yet. These colours do make me think of summer days – I took them from Susie’s new challenge over at Color Throwdown and they’re right in my favourite palette. I’m also going to share this at another new-to-me challenge, AAA cards – their theme is a no layer card with an optional twist of hexagons.
