wedding congratulations

Welcome to my crafty blog and another piece of exciting news! I’ve been invited to join CAS Colours & Sketches as a Guest Designer for their June challenges! I was absolutely delighted to get the email from Patricia, and so here’s my first contribution. It’s a colour challenge this week, using Stampin’ Up!’s ‘fresh freesia’, ‘gorgeous grape’ and ‘soft succulent’

Now, I don’t have SU inkpads, so I’ve gone with the nearest matches I could find in my Distress Oxides – ‘spun sugar’, ‘wilted violet’ and ‘iced spruce’. I started by trimming a piece of white card down to fit a 5×7 card blank and stamped the hydrangea from SU’s ‘beautiful friendship’ set with the ‘wilted violet’ into the bottom left corner. I then added a few sprays of lilac in the ‘spun sugar’ and leaves in ‘iced spruce’. I really like building up patterns like this, and this set works so well.

I then stamped one of the sentiments from the set in the ‘wilted violet’. I’m trying to get a bit more organised, and this one will be heading to friends who are getting married next month, so the words are perfect, as is the colour as their theme is purple.

To finish, I created a mount on a slightly larger piece of white card by blending the ‘wilted violet’ around the edge and then attached the topper to it before putting it all onto the card blank.

I used the sketch from this week’s Inspired by challenge for my card, and also picked up the lilac from their inspiration photo.

There’s been a bit of a lilac theme running through the last few days for me – we had a gardening day at our church on Saturday and both of the lilacs were in full bloom. I grabbed a couple of photos to share with you – enjoy!

  1. This is beautiful Deborah! I only have a tiny amount of SU supplies so I turn to my Oxides quite a bit as well. Love how you nailed two challenges with this. Thanks for hanging out with us this month!

  2. It seems we were similarly inspired this week Deborah and I love that you used one of my favourite stamp sets to create your lilacs. Thrilled to have you guesting over at CAS Colours & Sketches this month too!

  3. Hey Deborah – so glad you are hanging out with us at CC&S this month, I love your creations and this one is no exception! Beautifully done, I adore this set and I think this hydrangea bloom is by far my favorite. I love when 2 challenges can work together to take most of the guess work out, leaving the imagination to wander where it wants.
