wishing you the berry best

Welcome to my crafty blog. The weather’s been miserable here for the last couple of days, so I thought I’d start looking ahead to summer and lovely bowls of strawberries & raspberries. I got Stampin’ Up!’s ‘sweet strawberry’ set earlier this year, together with the ‘berry blessings’ stamps in the Sale-a-bration and thought they deserved an outing. I’ve taken the inspiration for this card from a couple of current blog challenges. I used the colours from Color Throwdown (and the strawberry theme from the photo as well) and the layout from CAS Colours & Sketches

I started by covering an A6 card blank with a piece of the ‘berry delightful’ paper and then added a smaller piece of white card.

I then stamped the strawberry onto an offcut of white card, using Distress Oxide in ‘festive berries’ for the base colour and ‘walnut stain’ for the detail. I stamped the background for the raspberry in ‘picked raspberry’ (obviously!) and used ‘festive berries’ for the detail overstamp. All the leaves and berry stems were done in ‘mowed lawn’. I cut the strawberry pieces out using the co-ordinating punch and fussy cut the raspberry and it’s leaves, and then glued the pieces together.

I cut a strip of white card to sit across the front of the card blank, and stamped the sentiment on it in ‘walnut stain’ before sticking it down. (Guess who forgot to photograph this stage before completing the card…)

I finished by adding the two berries using foam pads. I thought they worked really well with the sketch, having the strawberry for the larger circle and the raspberry for the smaller one. I then popped a few red Glossies around the berries for some final detail.

Thanks for dropping in. It’s been a busy old week and I’m looking forward to a bit of downtime tomorrow (which will clearly be spent crafting!) Enjoy your weekend.

  1. Love the strawbs with the fresh green checked border Deborah! I’m fed up with being rained on but I think it’s going to get worse for a few days before it gets better :/ Thank you for coming to play at CAS Colours and Sketches this week! Vicky x
