Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card features my favourite insect – the honey bee, courtesy of Stampin’ Up!’s set of the same name. It’s close to my heart because my name, Deborah, means bee-like or industrious. I’m always interested in the meaning of people’s names – and then deciding whether or not it fits them…! I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions on mine. 😃
Strangely enough, I haven’t used this set very much since I got it, but it was a must when I saw the theme of this week’s Fusion Card Challenge. I’ve combined the sketch and the picture for this one.

I started with a 5×7 card blank, and blended ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide’ across the lower third. I then used the Claritystamp ‘clouds’ mask for the sky, brushing ‘mermaid lagoon’ across it.

The next step was to die cut the honeycomb from the set (twice) in white card, and attach that over the ‘mustard seed’. I also stamped the sentiment from SU’s ‘quite curvy’ set in Archival ‘watering can’. I thought the words worked well on two levels – it picks up the sentiment in the challenge picture, but also the fact that the bees are making honey!

I finished by stamping the two bees in ‘watering can’ and die cutting them. I added the yellow with a marker pen, before attaching them to the card front with foam pads.

Thanks for dropping in. These bees have reminded me that my son bought me some lovely honey as part of my Mother’s Day present, so I think it will be topping a piece of toast later!
Love this Deborah xxx and tutorial xxx
