shades of green

Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card used the fab ‘fresh florals’ stamps and dies from Julie Hickey Designs – I love the clean fresh lines of the stamps. I’ve taken inspiration from two current blog challenges (I’m getting better at combining them). The theme at Just Add Ink is ‘shades of green’, and I used the layout at Fusion at well as elements from their photo (the greens and leaves).

I decided to rotate the sketch, so the panel ran down the side of the card. I masked a strip off with low tack tape and then stamped the two sets of leaves down the length of the card, using Artistry Ink in ‘avocado’ and ‘wedgewood green’. Once stamped, I used the ‘wedgewood green’ to colour the leaves using a water brush.

I then stamped the flower and four sets of leaves using Artistry ‘dry weed’. I again water coloured the leaves using the ‘wedgewood green’ and shaded the flower with ‘lime kiss’, ‘dry weed’ and ‘wedgewood green’, before die cutting them all out.

Next step was to add them to the centre of the card, using foam pads. I had originally cut the large and small flowers, but decided to just go with the large one in the end. I added the sentiment from Julie Hickey’s ‘friendship flower’ set, and finished the flower with a Card Candi in the centre.

I wasn’t sure initially about making a flower card with just shades of green, but I’m very pleased with how this turned out.
