tulip crescent

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m back with a general birthday card today, using a retired Stampin’ Up! set – ‘lovely wishes’. These little tulip stems are so pretty and just perfect for spring cards. I’ve taken inspiration for this card from two of this week’s blog challenges – the layout is from the sketch over at CAS Colours and Sketches and I’ve used the three elements along the bottom row of the TicTacToe grid (birthday/colouring/yellow). I’m also going to share it over at Alphabet challenge (a new one for me), where the theme is ‘Y for Yellow’.

I started with one of the new background stamps from Claritystamp, and added Distress Oxide to it in ‘mustard seed’ and ‘mowed lawn’, using a sponge. I then stamped it onto a piece of white card, before adding the two tulips in Archival ‘shadow grey’ to form a crescent shape.

The next step was to colour in the flowers and leaves, using my trusty Spectrum Noir pencils. I used yellow and a pale orange for the flowers and two shades of green for the leaves.

All I then needed to do was add the sentiment from the set, in ‘shadow grey’, and a few green gems. I trimmed the card down to the edge of the background, and then mounted it on a 5×7 card blank.

We’ve had high winds here for the past couple of days, with a little bit of sunshine, and tomorrow is forecast to be sunny. Here’s hoping for a lovely day!

  1. Love your blended background and the simple arch of tulips – I might have to dig this set out – totally forgot I had it! Thanks for playing along with our CAS Colours & Sketches layout and my tictactoe board too!
