lovely mum

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m back with another Mother’s Day card, using the new ‘art gallery’ set from Stampin’ Up! – this one is for a friend to send her mum next month. I do really like this stamp set, and decided it would make a great contemporary style card, rather than the more traditional Mother’s Day one. I’ve used the colours in this week’s challenge over at The Paper Players for this one.

I started by stamping the large flower and the small spray in ‘fancy fuschia’ Artistry Ink. Next was to stamp the flower stems and heat emboss them with WOW ‘gold satin’ powder, and then add the overstamps onto the flowers and again emboss them in gold before cutting them all out with the coordinating dies.

I then cut a couple of mats, one in black and a slightly smaller one in white and popped those onto the front of a 7×7 card blank, putting them slightly off centre.

I glued the large gold flower stem onto the white mat, and then added the large flower and the spray using foam pads to give them dimension. I added a small black bow across the stems.

I finished the card by stamping the sentiment (also from the ‘art gallery’ set) onto a small piece of white card to sit across the edge of the back frame, and stamped ‘mum’ down the side to sit above the sentiment. I used the Claritystamp ‘letterbox’ stamps for this (very useful for creating individual words)

I love these colours together – the black really makes the pick & gold stand out. Not exactly a traditional Mother’s Day card, but then it’s hardly been a typical year has it?
