a bunch of hearts

Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card is another commissioned one for a friend to send to celebrate the birth of a new baby girl. Even though it looks like we’re now in the second wave of the Covid pandemic in the UK, life’s events still continue.

I took my inspiration from the design over at this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge (https://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/)

I started by cutting out several hearts from some paper I’ve had for ages, using the Claritystamp nested heart dies

I wanted to make them look like a bunch of balloons, so just taped a length of bakers twine onto the back of each heart, so I could draw the strings together once on the card

I picked up the theme of the sketch by cutting a piece of white card just over half the width of an A5 card blank, and then attaching a strip of the darker pink paper either side. I ran the white card through a textured embossing folder before doing this, to give it a bit more definition, although it doesn’t really show up in the photos. I attached the white card to the front of the card blank, and then added the hearts using foam pads.

I pulled the strings together on the card, and used a small piece of red tape to attach them further down the card front. I then added the die cut sentiment across the top of the strings.

I finished the card with a few more tiny hearts scattered above the main bunch, to balance out the image.

Thanks for dropping in. I can’t believe it’s the weekend already – lots to do, but sadly it won’t include coffee with friends now that London has had more restrictions imposed on households meeting.
