Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card celebrates one of my favourite shows that’s back on TV – The Great British Bake Off. I am a bit of a fan of all these competition shows and GBBO is a definite watch in our house
I took my inspiration from the design sketch in this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge

I remembered that I’d got some ribbons that I bought ages ago, all with variations of the ‘keep calm and carry on’ motto. I had a blue one with ‘keep calm and carry on baking’, which was perfect. It also feels sadly appropriate in the UK at the moment as we are awaiting a government announcement tomorrow on further restrictions for managing the Covid 19 pandemic.
Anyway back to the card! I mounted the ribbon onto a thin strip of white card to reinforce it, and then onto a contrasting strip of dark brown card

I then stamped the various elements of the cupcake from the Stampin Up ‘Hello cupcake’ stamp set and cut them out with the coordinating ‘call me cupcake’ dies. I stamped it out in dark brown – I love a chocolate cupcake!

I used a new SU texture folder I’ve just bought on the piece of white card before I attached the cupcake to it. I liked the flash of pink from the heart and added a couple of flowers from the set as well, just to lift it further. The ribbon then sat along the bottom of the white card

As I said, I do like a chocolate cupcake, but they’ll have to stay as card embellishments for now as I’m not yet at my target weight with Slimming World. This is definitely the lower calorie version!
