Birthday blossoms

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m having a bit of a break from making Christmas cards at the moment, and sharing a card I was asked to make for a friend’s mum. I’ve realised it’s very similar to one I blogged last month, but I do love the ‘blossoms in bloom’ set from Stampin’ Up

I started by stamping the large blossoms onto the top and bottom of a piece of white card, which I’d already cut to fit on an A5 card blank. I blended the inks on the stamp (I used ‘blaze’ and ‘orange popsicle’ from Artistry Inks) using a make-up sponge before I stamped it on the card. I have to say, I do always seem to get just as much ink on my fingers as I do on the card when I’m doing this…!

I wanted to give the flowers a strong outline, so cut out two using the thinner of the two dies from the co-ordinating ‘many layered blossoms’ die set. Regular readers of my blog will know that I can’t bear to waste any card, so one of the dies was cut from the inner part of the mount I was using for the card! I also remembered to put ‘Stick it’ on the back of the card before cutting, so it was easy to attach the die cut over the stamped image.

I just trimmed off the edges of the die cut flush with the card mount where they overlapped the edge of the card. The sentiment is from Claritystamp’s range – they have just launched a great set of relations stamps, which I obviously invested in!

All that was left to do was mount the topper onto the co-ordinating red card piece, and then onto the card blank. Thanks for dropping in – I haven’t been very good at blogging over the last week (I was on a virtual crafting retreat over the weekend – exhausting!), but will try to produce more regular posts over the coming week.
