Floral wreath

Welcome to my crafty blog. We’re in the middle of a heatwave here in the UK, but I have managed to sort out some plants in my garden pots. I just need to make sure I remember to keep them watered which isn’t my strongest point!

I decided to stick with the theme of flowers for today’s card, which was inspired by an online class I did recently with Joanne James, aka the Crafty Owl, using the Stampin Up! ‘wreath builder’ dies. These are also not my usual choice of colours, but I’ve used the theme from the current Color Throwdown challenge https://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/

I started by cutting the leafy circle out of a piece of blue card. I backed it with a piece of Stick It adhesive first, so that I could easily attach it to the card. I then cut out a few more leaves in navy, and flowers in red and coral. I used a ball tool on a piece of foam to lightly emboss the flowers so that the petals curled upwards, rather than lying flat

All I did then was attach the flowers to the wreath using Pinflair glue to give them a bit of dimension. I put them on both sides with the additional leaves to balance out the wreath

I finished them off by adding small crystals for the flower centres, and stamped the sentiment from the SU ‘Lovely Wishes’ set. I added a few more crystals around the additional leaves as well

Thanks for dropping in. I hope you’ve had a good weekend, wherever you are. We’ve got thunderstorms forecast in the UK for the coming week, so hopefully my new plants won’t die of drought!
