As You See It challenge – Christmas lights

Hello again! I’m back with a second card today, showcasing one of ClarityCrafts‘ new Christmas quote stamps again, this time with their ‘Christmas rounds – lights’ stencil. You can see for yourself that it works well for our new theme of ‘Christmas’ at As You See It challenge, chosen by Joanne.

I started with the Christmas lights stencil on a square of white card and used a palette knife to spread structure paste across it. I washed the stencil in warm soapy water straight away and left the paste to dry on the card for a couple of hours. It was easy to then replace the stencil over the paste and sponge Distress Oxide inks onto the lights (using ‘candied apple’, ‘carved pumpkin’ & ‘twisted citron’) and let them dry. I used a micron pen through the stencil to outline the string for the lights.

I added the Christmas quote stamp with black Archival ink, then isolated one of the lights with low tack tape and sponged more of the ‘twisted citron’ through it either side of the sentiment. At this point, I realised that it had dried in a more muted tone on the structure paste, but it was too late to change!

I trimmed a piece of Northern Lights companion paper to fit a 7×7 card blank and cut one of the ‘nested square scalloped frame-it’ aperture dies into it. I edged the stencil card using a black Sharpie and a ruler, fixed it into the centre of the Northern Lights paper and attached the whole piece to the card blank.

Christmas is now approaching fast (just over 5 weeks away…!) so it’s a great time to join us at As You See It with your cards – come on over and play! I’m heading over to share this with the Christmas challenges at Happy Little Stampers and The Holly and Ivy
