Easter sunrise

Allelulia, Christ is risen! It’s Easter morning and I’m just popping in with a quick post to share a celebratory card with you before heading off to church. I’ve made very few Easter cards this year – the last couple of months have been pretty full on, with a respiratory infection, new kitchen being fitted and overseas friends coming to stay! Plus all the normal life stuff as well… Anyway, today is definitely the most appropriate day for this card – I thought the sunrise scene from Clarity’s Art Nouveau stamps was perfect for Easter morning.

I started by cutting down a mop-up piece from last year’s summer retreat when we were creating backgrounds with acrylic paints spritzed with water (it’s been sitting in my folder since then!) I masked off the bottom box on the stamp with low tack tape, inked it up with black Archival and stamped it in the centre of my background. I then set about shading the scene with Polychromo pencils, just trying to emphasise the colour that was already in the background.

I shaded in the frame as well, then added a mount of Antarctica companion paper. I found the sentiment in my old stash (it’s not Clarity!! It’s from Paper Smooches, a US company that’s not in business any more) and added it below the sunrise scene. Finally I used a rectangle embedder and ball tool to emboss a frame onto a 5×7 card blank and then sat the topper within it.

I’m going to share this card with a couple of current challenges, starting with AAA Cards – you’ll have already worked out that this meets the E for Easter theme! I’m also dropping it into Allsorts‘ gallery for their ‘springtime’ option – Easter falls during spring every year, after all.

And so I’ll finish by wishing those of you who celebrate it a happy and blessed Easter! I’m off to a Christian event for the next five days, which will recharge my batteries – but I’ve got a series of cards lined up to share with you whilst I’m away!
