Ginkgo panel stencil

Hello crafty friends and welcome to Sunday’s post. I’m back with another of the fab new panel stencils that launched on Friday as one of the Products of the Month for April – that means if you put the set of four stencils in your shopping basket, you get double loyalty points on your whole order! I’m showcasing the lovely Ginkgo Panel on today’s card, with a simple bit of sponging, plus one of the new Feel Good Tall Sentiments – read on for the details.

The first step was to cut a piece of card to fit on a 7×7 card blank, then lay the stencil on it, fixing it in place with low tack tape. I then sponged ‘carved pumpkin’ Distress Oxide onto the ginkgo leaves, adding a little ‘ripe persimmon’ down by the stems to give them depth. I next switched to ‘wilted violet’ for the background, trying to keep out of the leaves.

I pulled out a black micron pen to then add detail to the images, running a deckled line down each side of the stencilled image (never difficult for me, as I don’t have the steadiest hand in the business!) and then dotting up from the base of the leaves for additional shading. I added one of the Tall Feel Good sentiments with black Archival ink and then popped the topper straight onto the 7×7 card blank.

Here’s a closer look at those micron pen dots – such an easy technique!

Now, this isn’t a colour combination I’d normally go anywhere near, but I gave it a try thanks to Color Hues and I rather like the outcome. Additionally, the background on this stencil picks up the ‘stripes’ theme at Addicted to CAS – two boxes ticked!
