Slimline card at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown 26-12

Good morning everyone and welcome to Seasonal Saturday! Time for this week’s challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and Elfi wants to see slimline cards. I love it when things come together – this was the perfect opportunity to showcase another of the brand new panel stencils, as the Forestland design is ideal for Christmas cards (and other occasions, of course!)

I started by cutting a topper to fit on a slimline card blank, lined the stencil across the centre and ran it through my embossing machine using a rubber shim. I wanted the raised effect for this card, so made sure my stencil (and bit of low tack tape to hold it in place) was on the ‘back’ of the topper.

I repositioned the stencil ono the front of the card, holding it in place with low tack tape, and added a mini moon mask under the trees. I then brushed ‘uncharted mariner’ and ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxides across the whole width of the topper, using a spot-on sponge to sharpen the edges around the trees.

I kept the stencil in place while I lifted the moon mask off and brushed a little of the ‘speckled egg’ across it to define it against the trees. I then simply added the sentiment from the Christmas Elements Snowflakes stamps in ‘uncharted mariner’, together with a co-ordinating mount of Indian Summer companion paper and then popped it straight onto the card blank (one of Clarity’s 8×8 blanks that I cut in half).

These blues make a lovely wintery scene, but change the colours and this stencil could take you right through the seasons! Do come and join in the fun at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown with your slimline cards – you have until Friday to play along with us.

I’ll be sharing this with a couple of other seasonal challenges as well. My winter forest picks up the letter F from Christmas Crafts All Year Round; as always Holly & Ivy‘s theme is ‘anything goes’.
