Blue & White at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown 26-10

Good morning everyone and welcome to another Seasonal Saturday! My Christmas card making through the year is going very well, definitely helped by the fact that I joined the design team at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! This week we’ve got a colour challenge for you, with a lovely combination of blue and white – perfect for Christmas. I opted for the beautiful C for Christmas stamp set from Linda’s Christmas Compendium, taking a design I’ve done previously which was with a more traditional set of colours.

I started by embossing a frame onto a 5×5 card blank using one of Clarity’s square embedders and a ball tool, before stamping the C shaped wreath into the centre with ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

It was then a simple matter to shade in the foliage using Polychromo pencils in ‘sky blue’ (from the Essentials set), ‘ultramarine’, and ‘bluish turquoise’ (from Winter)

Finally, I added in the rest of the sentiment, again in ‘watering can’, filling in the letters with the ‘sky blue’ pencil – I masked off the C on Christmas as the wreath replaces it.

Don’t you think that’s pretty? I was nudged towards using the wreath for this card by the inspiration board at Hand Stamped Sentiments‘ moodboard and it also picks up the F for Foliage option at ABC Christmas. How will you use blue & white on your seasonal cards?
