Dragonfly circles

Hello crafty friends. Bit of a late post today – we’re in something of a state of chaos here at home, as it’s been the first day of my new kitchen being fitted, so the old one has been completely stripped out and the electrics sorted today. Hopefully it will be done by the end of the week – it’s no fun managing it all with my 1 year old grandson and his parents living with me…! Anyway, on to crafting matters and another of my samples using the fab new Dotted Dragonflies stamps, which I teamed up with the Circle Dots stencil.

I started with the centre piece of the Circle Dots stencil, and positioned it onto my card topper to use as an embedder – having attached it to the front of the topper, I flipped the card to the other side and ran a ball tool around the circle to create an embossed frame. Turning back to the front, I put the outer part of the stencil around the dotted piece to act as a mask, then used stencil brushes to blend ‘tattered rose’, ‘saltwater taffy’ and ‘carved pumpkin’ Distress Oxides through the dots.

I could then stamp two of the dragonflies and the sentiment onto the topper with ‘uncharted mariner’ Distress Oxide.

I finished with a simple mount of Antarctica companion paper and attached the topper to a 6×6 card blank.

I have to confess that I haven’t used the Circle Dots in ages – in fact, having done a quick search of my blog posts, I don’t seem to have used it at all in the last 6 years at least, so I think that qualifies it for the Neglected Stuff challenge! I’ve also picked up the left hand diagonal of circles, encouragement & frame from TicTacToe and the ‘stencil’ theme from Inkspirational.
