March calendar love bird for Love to Craft challenge

Hello again. I’m back with a second post today, this time for our new challenge at Love to Craft which, as always, is ‘anything goes’. I’ve got the next page in my 2026 calendar to share with you, celebrating March with one of the fabulous new bird stamps and co-ordinating stencils that Barbara will be launching on Clarity Social TV this afternoon at 2pm. The Clarity design team were sent early sets of these, but I can’t link the details up for you as they haven’t gone live on the website yet as I’m writing this – I’ll update this post once they’re available.

I started by embossing the co-ordinating circle stencil onto one of the toppers that came with my calendar, then popped the inner and outer pieces into place to mask those parts of the card while I sponged ink through the stencil design – ‘mowed lawn’ Distress Oxide for the leaves and ‘salvaged patina’ for the hearts.

I then lined up the Love Bird stamp into the centre of the stencil (if I was to do this again I’d stamp the image first and then centre the stencil around it), stamping it in black Archival ink. The stamp set comes with infill stamps for the main images, so I inked those up to colour the leaves and hearts – ‘mowed lawn’ and ‘salvaged patina’ as for the stencil, with a blend of ‘blueprint sketch’ and ‘wilted violet’ for the love bird.

There isn’t a stamp to fill in the frame, so I used a ‘may green’ Polychromo pencil to shade it in. I then simply edged the topper with a black Sharpie and attached it to the March page of my calendar.

I’m really enjoying creating my calendar pages each month – I’m working on it through the year, rather than having filled them all back in January. This page took inspiration from the colours at AAA Colourful and also picks up the stencil theme from Just Us Girls. And our challenge at Love to Craft runs until 15th April, so plenty of time for you to come and share your creations in our gallery.
