Black & gold at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown 26-06

Hello friends and welcome to my next Seasonal Saturday offering, with my DT sample for this week’s 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. It’s a colour challenge this time round and Andreja has given us a great combination of black & gold. I haven’t used the Noel Baubles die from Clarity’s October 2022 Craft Club in ages (I checked back on this blog and it’s not seen action since June 2023!) so definitely time to give it an outing.

I started by cutting the Film Strip doodle panel frame-it die into a piece of gold card – and immediately realised that’s not what I’d intended as I’d wanted to use the aperture version of this which would not have cut the border off (I did manage to find a solution). Anyway, I then cut the Noel Baubles aperture die into the centre of my gold panel – I find it easier to line up the two dies this way, rather than trying to cut both at the same time (I’ve had too many move slightly when doing both together).

I cut a piece of Clarity’s double sided adhesive sheet to fit the gold card. Lifting one side of the cover sheet from it, I laid the border gold side down on my craft mat and centred the adhesive sheet on it, being careful not to press down in the centre. I then turned it over and centred the die cut panel onto the adhesive sheet, lining it up to butt against the border and putting the piece of cover sheet I’d removed over it, so I could press it down firmly. Clarity’s adhesive sheet is super sticky, so you only get one shot at this! I peeled the backing sheet off the adhesive and attached the topper to a black 5×5 card blank, then covered the adhesive with Perga Glitter (I went with Hint of Gold) for a lovely sparkle

And here’s the finished article – the double sided adhesive sheet and Perga glitter just lift these die cuts to another level.

Black & gold is such a classic Christmas combination – come and join us in the 52CCT gallery where we’d love to see how you use these two colours. I’m also going to share this card at Sparkles Christmas for their ‘baubles’ theme, at Make My Monday who’ve challenged us to use two dies, and at Neglected Stuff for this die that’s sat in the folder for too long!
