Hello crafty friends. We’ve got a new theme to inspire you over at As You See It Challenge and Heather has tempted our sweet tooth with ‘candy’ (or sweets if you’re in the UK!) I spotted Clarity’s ‘sweets’ stencil, which is appropriate for this time of year as the design looks like Love Hearts – remember those? The stencil also worked with pastel colours for a CAS card, which made me happy!

First, I wanted to emboss the stencil onto a piece of card, but wanted the sweet to be debossed. To achieve that, I attached the card to the ‘wrong’ side of the stencil, then was able to use what would normally be the reverse side once embossed, which had the sweets impressed onto it.

I then set to sweeping ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxides across it with my stencil brushes, brushing lightly so the colour stayed on the top of the sweets and caught the embossed edges. I also added in a little ‘wilted violet’ to make the pinks pop a little more.

I cut the stencilled card into a panel, added a couple of strips of co-ordinating companion paper down each side and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. I found the perfect word sticker to finish in the Pinky Gray collection.

So, we do hope you’ll come and share your sweet treats with us at ASYI – our challenge runs for the next two weeks. I’m sharing this one with a few other challenges. Addicted to CAS are looking for pink cards, Cardz4Galz want ‘hugs & kisses’ and Inspire.Create‘s theme is ‘love.

Deb, what a great way to showcase that fabulous stencil and I love that you used it only on a vertical panel. So glad you shared this with us at Addicted to CAS this week
