Tulips & snowdrops framer stamp

Hello everyone. I’ve got the final one of my cards from my January shows on Clarity Social TV for you today, using the lovely Tulips & Snowdrops Framer stamp set. I was inspired for this design by an earlier sample done by my fab Clarity team-mate, Jane Telford, when these stamps were first released. You can find Jane’s original design by clicking on the link above for the stamps – I stripped it back a bit but kept to her basic layout.

My starting point for this one was an oval embedder, which I embossed onto a 5×5 piece of card using a ball tool. Now you’ll notice that my floral frame is more curved than the one on the picture for the set – Clarity’s stamps are malleable so can be stretched out or curved in to reposition them, and they’ll ping back to their original shape when you take them off the mount. Anyway, I put the framer stamp onto one of the 5×5 mega mounts and curved it in more, to give myself room to add more flowers to it. Once I was happy with the position I stamped it with black Archival ink.

I could then fill in the rest of the frame with the little individual snowdrop and tulip stamps – I popped a little bit of low tack tape inside the frame for each flower. so that I could line it up exactly and the stems didn’t extend towards the centre. Once I was happy that the frame was filled, I shaded them in with Polychromo pencils.

I wanted to give the frame a little more definition, so filled it in with a green Polychromo pencil, before gently brushing ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Ink in from the edges and adding the sentiment in the centre. I finished by running a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I always think that snowdrops are the very first sign of spring and I’ve spotted a few starting to bloom around here, so am feeling hopeful. This floral frame meets the B for Bloom aspect at Triple B and the ‘anything goes’ theme at Beautiful Blossoms – my sentiment also works for Word Power too.
