Hello everyone. Had a busy day up at Clarity Crafts today with the live demos on their YouTube channel and wanted to share one of the demos from this afternoon’s show. It’s actually also my DT card for the new theme of Texture at Alphabet Challenge and I’m a bit late posting it, but didn’t want it to go live until after the show! I’ve used the lovely Snowdrops square aperture die with some designer parchment – gluing the die onto the parchment gives it the texture we’re looking for at Alphabet.

So, the first step was to cut the die into a piece of stencil card, using a nested square die to cut the outer border for my topper.

I glued it onto a piece of Toscana designer parchment with Perga glue (which is specifically designed to use with parchment), making sure it was on the muted front side, not the brighter side, which is where the ink is printed. I then set about rubbing the ink off the back of the parchment through the snowdrops on the die, to whiten it. Flipping the parchment to the front, I sharpened the white snowdrops by shading them with a Pergamano pencil.

I added a couple of the new Art Deco sentiments into the central box using ‘library green’ Archival ink before attaching the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank, again using the Perga glue which dries clear and doesn’t show through the parchment.

I’m calling this style ‘faux parchment craft’! The die cut and eraser pencil combine to look a bit like embossing and white work in traditional parchment crafting (well, that’s what I tell myself…!) Do come and join in the fun at Alphabet Challenge and share your creations featuring texture. I’m sharing this lovely border of snowdrops with the current challenge at Triple B it’s that time of year when all these pretty blooms start to emerge!
