Xander’s birthday at Addicted to Stamps & More!

Hello friends. I’m back with a second post, this time for our new challenge at Addicted to Stamps & More, where we’re celebrating birthdays. I decided to share the card I made for my grandson, who turned 1 on Sunday (and I have no idea where that year went – it doesn’t seem 5 minutes since we were welcoming his arrival!) Anyway, I opted for the BIP the Bear Celebrates stamp set for his card, although to be honest he’s more interested in chewing the paper than admiring the artwork!

So, here’s my process. I started by stamping BIP onto a 5×5″ square of card, adding his crown and an X to his jumper and masking the whole image with the pre-cut reusable ones that come with the set. I then brushed ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide around him for the sky, then brushed ‘mowed lawn’ across a landscape mask for the ground.

Having removed the masks (and put them back on the carrier sheet for next time) I shaded BIP with my Polychromo pencils, adding some grey around his feet to ground him.

I added a couple of the sentiments from the stamp set, together with his name using the BIP the Bear Alphabet stamps (I love this font). Having added a mount of Waimea Falls companion paper, I used a large square embedder and a ball tool to emboss a frame on a 7×7 card blank and attached the topper to it.

We had a great party at the weekend celebrating Xander’s birthday and baptism (which was on the same day). Do come on over to ATSM and share your birthday celebrations with us!
