snowman sketch for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

Good morning everyone and welcome to the weekend! Some of you may recall that I set myself a challenge last year of making one Christmas card each week to get my stash built up ahead of time – well I pretty much managed it, other than in September when I was away travelling in Australia. Now, I’d been in two minds about whether to continue with it in 2026, but then I was invited to join the design team at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown– it’s a weekly challenge so the decision was made! Here we are then with our first challenge of 2026 and it’s a sketch from Andreja. I didn’t want to lose the momentum of revisiting last year’s Clarity Craft Club stamps, but the September image which was next to feature didn’t work for this so I’ve brought the snowman from December forward for today and will go back to the September stamp tomorrow (not exactly a crime!)

The first step was to stamp the snowman onto card cut slightly smaller than A6 and cover him with a mask I’d cut from Clarity’s reusable blank material. I could then blend Distress Oxides into the background with my stencil brushes – from the top I used ‘chipped sapphire’, ‘broken china’ and ‘tumbled glass’.

Next was to fill in his accessories with the infill stamps in the set – ‘black soot’ for his hat, ‘carved pumpkin’ for his nose and ‘festive berries’ for his scarf. I also added a little shading on the ground beneath him with a blue Polychromo pencil.

I added the sentiment and attached the topper to an A6 card blank, finishing with the falling snowflakes thanks to a white Posca pen.

So, that’s my first Seasonal Saturday of 2026 – come and join us at 52 CCT and keep the festive fun going every week!
