Hello everyone. Are you having a quiet few days in this time between Christmas and New Year or, like me, has life got busy again (so far this week I’ve been to a wedding and a funeral – and it’s only Tuesday!) With my grandson’s baptism and first birthday coming up on Sunday as well, I’ve pretty much got all the generations covered! Anyway, I grabbed a few minutes for the next in my series travelling back through this year’s Clarity Craft Club stamps, today featuring the cute hedgehog from May.

I started with another of my gelli plate alcohol ink backgrounds from Barbara’s online workshop a few months ago (it’s still available to buy, is a great session of inspiration for getting more out of a gelli plate and really good value for about 5 hours of tuition). Anyway, I found a suitable 3.5″ square piece in my stash, then stamped the hedgehog image along the lower edge and added the little trees from the Clarity Street set

Having shaded in the hedgehog & trees with Polychromo pencils and stamped the sentiment into place, I added a mount of companion paper, I embossed a frame onto the front of a 5×5 card blank with a square embedder and an embossing tool, then sat the topper within it.

Isn’t it interesting how changing the orientation of something makes it work much better? I’d spent a while looking at this background with the colours at the bottom, trying to work out how best to place the hedgehog image, but it all came together once I rotated it 180 degrees to give me a colourful sky. It’s a bit too early and chilly for this little chap to be out of hibernation, though.

I know what you mean about orientation and I’ve taken to moving things around before I decide. Love the heggie – he is adorable and your background is awesome.
