bijou Christmas bauble

Hello crafty friends. I haven’t had any of Clarity’s bijou bauble stamps out so far this season, so figured it was time to rectify that, inspired by Barbara’s demos with them on HobbyMaker TV this afternoon. This card uses the ‘joy to the world’ bauble from the set, together with one of the lattice doodle frame-it panel dies (they’re my favourite frames)

I first cut a mat with one of the lattice dies, small enough to fit on a 5×5 card blank, then heat embossed the outline bauble image with WOW’s superfine white powder.

I’d stamped the outline bauble using a 4×4 mega mount (the etched lines are great for lining up against the card edges, which makes repeat stamping so much easier). This was helpful as the white embossing was difficult to see through the infill stamp – I lined the stamp up on the embossed image first, so the figures were in focus, then used the mega mount again with the lines following the card edges so I could go straight back down once inked (a bit like a manual stamping platform, really). I sponged a blend of ‘chipped sapphire’ & ‘black soot’ Distress Oxides into the sky with a little ‘peacock feathers’ across the sentiment and planted it onto the embossed outline.

I embossed a frame onto a 5×5 card blank using a square embedder and was going to leave the rest of the card white, but felt that the bauble needed a more definite frame. Instead, I cut a square of navy card the exact size of the topper and glued it onto the back (that gave me a bit of wiggle room to get the edges perfectly lined up) – I could then pop it straight onto the card front.

I actually made a batch of these cards – once I’d got the stamps lined up on the mega mount it was easy to keep going. I’m going to share it with a couple of challenges as well, having picked up the bauble from Inkspirational‘s moodboard and the Christmas option at We Love Stamping.
