Hello everyone. It’s time for our new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches – I’m hosting the challenge during November and went for this very simple sketch which has lots of potential (just remember to leave plenty of lovely white space). Having put a couple of the new Big Blooms sets into action last week, I’m back with a third one – the silhouette flowers.

First up, though, I needed to get the layout onto my card. I used one of the masks from the ‘meadow’ scene in the 6×6 Landscapes set, laying it on a topper cut to fit an A6 card and brushing ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxide across it. I stamped some of the leaves from the set onto the background, again using the ‘dried marigold’ and then ran a micron pen along the edge of the mask before lifting it off.

I then inked up the large trio of flowers with ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide and planted them into the panel, together with the sentiment from the larger ‘stripey flowers’ set in the Big Blooms collection. A quick run round the topper edges with a black Sharpie, popped it onto an A6 card blank and it was done.

I’ve also incorporated the bottom row of navy, foliage & flowers from TicTacToe into this design (always helpful to have other prompts to work with). So how will you use my CC&S sketch for a card? Our challenge runs for the next two weeks – see you in the gallery!

Great idea and effect for the hill – a detail without dimension – I must remember that…. xx

Super sweet card! I love how you made the layers pop with the bit of dark ink on the edges! Great detail! TFS!

So pretty Deborah – the flowers have an almost stencil-like quality – and the inked edges give a neat finish too. Lovely!
