cool yule!

Hello crafty friends. You may recall that, up until I took a break to go travelling in Australia, I was keeping up with my personal challenge to make one Christmas card each week through 2025. Well, with the celebratory season approaching fast (there’s just 10 weeks to go…!) I’m upping my game so you may see more than one each week over the next couple of months! Clarity have a great little stamp set, Jim’s Christmas Jumper Accessories, with a hat, scarf and mittens – how many people get those in their Christmas stockings each year?

I decided to use the layout from Sunday Stamps on this card, together with the colours from The Paper Players (no florals this time!) Helpfully, Make My Monday are looking for fabrics or textiles this time round, so that’s another box ticked.

I opted for a rectangular A6 card this time and trimmed a piece of card down for my topper. I stamped the scarf in the centre, followed by the hat & mittens each side – I cut myself a mask for one of the mittens so that I could overlap them to look like one image.

I then used green and purple Pergaliner pencils to shade then all in. I am so grateful to Barbara Gray for the online colouring sessions she ran in Clarity’s SHAC (Stay Home and Craft) during the Covid lockdowns – I would never have coloured images in before then and now this is one of my go-to techniques!

I layered the topper onto a piece of Clarity’s companion paper and then attached it to the A6 card blank. I finished with one of the KISS word stickers, which I also mounted on a scrap of the purple companion paper.

So pleased with how the colours worked for this one – and that’s my nephew’s Christmas card sorted!

  3. What a lovely card, Deborah, and I am in awe of your shading with the colored pencils! It’s been a long time since I played with colored pencils, I should dust them off. Anyway, your cute set of winter essentials totally looks like something I would wear–love it! Thanks for playing along with us at The Paper Players!
