foiled poppet

Hello friends. I’ve been working on demos today for my Clarity Social TV shows next Friday, but grabbed a few minutes to play again with one of Clarity’s new Hot Foil Kits, this time the silver one. I was watching Paul’s shows today and he reminded me that any of the products printed by Clarity can be foiled, not just those pieces in the kit, and it works on very detailed images, so I decided to give it a go on one of the Pretty Flowers Poppets printed toppers.

The printed toppers come as six images on an A4 sheet, so I cut one of them from a sheet (this is Pippa) and foiled her in silver – look at how detailed it is! I could then shade her and her little friends with Pergaliner pencils, after which I trimmed the card and mounted it on a piece of Indian summer companion paper.

I also picked out one of the BOW-WOB (black on white, white on black) papers in the pack, trimmed off a piece of it and foiled that in silver too! Once done, I glued it onto the front of a 6×6 card blank.

Pippa did look a little like she was levitating in mid-air at this point, so I used a Micron pen to doodle a ground line and added a shadow below her with a grey Polychromo pencil. I also stamped one of the Essentials Sentiments in black Archival – I wanted it offset, not in a straight line, so masked one word with low tack tape before inking, then repeated it with the second word. After popping a bit of scrap card onto the topper to give it a little height, it sat beautifully on the card front.

And here’s another close up to show you that fabulous detailed shine again!

I’ve drawn inspiration from a few challenges again for this one, taking the layout from Hand Stamped Sentiments, the colours from Creative Colour Challenges and the ‘kids’ theme from Double D.
