every step is better with friends

Hello everyone. Well after the heatwave here at the beginning of the week, I woke to grey skies and light rain yesterday, which felt wonderful! The sun is back now, but yesterday’s drizzle pointed me towards one of the new Timestamp Creations sets, which Clarity Crafts produce for Janice Phillips. All these little images are taken from Janice’s own photos, and she’ll be joining Barbara on Clarity Social TV tomorrow (Friday 4th) to put these latest stamps through their paces.

I picked out another of the lovely little tags from the new landscape backdrop prints collection as the base point for today’s card, stamping the friends with their brollies onto it using ‘watering can’ Archival ink. I think I’ve said before that I find it helpful to anchor small toppers or card pieces with a bit of low tack tape so they don’t move when I go to stamp on them.

I feel like I’ve dropped into a routine of square toppers centred on my square cards just recently, so to change it up a bit I used the ‘Black Forest’ sheet from the Build a Scene masks to create a landscape strip across the centre of a 6×6 card blank. I tried to match the colours on the topper as closely as possible, so brushed ‘stormy sky’ and ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxides across the hills, then switched to ‘bundled sage’ for the ground. (You can also see that I didn’t de-tack my new mask properly before attaching to the card, and it tore the surface very slightly when I lifted it off).

I ran a light blue Sharpie around the edges of the topper and added the sentiment from the stamp set, before attaching it to the card front – fortunately it sat over the tear from the mask!

I’m off to share this with the challenge at Atlantic Hearts, having taken inspiration from their layout. And then tomorrow I’ll be tuning in to see what else Janice & Barbara are making with this new collection.
