Hello again. I’m back with a second card from today’s Clarity Social TV shows – this time it’s the deck chairs card that I demo’d this afternoon (although it was a pretty quick skip through as we were running over time!) This deck chairs set from Linda’s In The Garden collection is just brilliant and worked perfectly with the Build a Scene Masks for a seaside vibe.

I worked directly on a 6×6 card blank for this one and started by positioning the Circle Frame stencil over it, attaching it with low tack tape. I lined the two deck chair stamps up on top of the stencil so their curves followed it’s edge and picked them up on a 5.5″x4″ Mega Mount. After flipping the stencil away from the card front, I stamped the two deck chairs into place with black Archival ink and dropped the stencil back into place over them.

I covered the deck chairs over with the pre-cut masks that come with the stamps
so that I could start creating my beach scene with the masks set. I started with the ‘at the sea’ sheet from the set, laying the ground mask across the deck chairs (under the stencil) and brushing ‘scattered straw’ Distress Ink across it for the sand, sponging in a little ‘wild honey’ to deepen the colour. I covered my beach with the other part of the mask, then switched to the waterline piece to create the sea, this time brushing ‘salty ocean’ across it and finishing with a straight line for the horizon. Each time I repositioned a mask piece, I dropped the circle stencil back into place over it, so I was also creating the shape. Finally, I took the little clouds mask from the set and brushed ‘tumbled glass’ across it to give me a soft summery sky. Once I’d completed the scene, I lightly brushed the ‘tumbled glass’ in from the stencil edges so I had a clear circle image.

I then simply took the masks off the deck chairs and coloured the images with my Pergaliner pencils. I do like the way these red candy stripes pop against the blue and yellow!

I was so chuffed with how this one turned out! And it works for a few current challenges too – Double D have got a beach theme, Addicted to CAS are playing with water and Allsorts are at the seaside. Happy days!

Lovely scene you’ve created. I’d like to be sitting on one of those deck chairs. The seaside is a wonderful place to relax. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to CAS.

Love this! Those pre-cut masks must be a game-changer for sure… nothing worse than having to hand-cut masks. I honestly think that’s why I don’t do much masking in my crafting. I love the look but don’t have the time.

I really don’t think I could have cut such detailed masks by hand!

Wonderful beach scene, so relaxing… The masks sold with the stamp set is such a good idea, I wish this was done by more stamp brands! Thank you so much for joining us at Allsorts challenge and using our theme!
