Fairytale at Sparkles Challenge

Hello crafty friends. Well, we’re halfway through June already and so it’s time for our latest challenge at Sparkles. This time round our theme is ‘fairytale or storybook’ and it gave me the perfect excuse to play with the Sprite Mini Poppets stamps again – I think Mabel and her little frog are one of my favourites!

A couple of challenges proved to be very helpful in pulling this card together – I took the layout design from Freshly Made Sketches and the colours from Just Add Ink.

First up was mini Mabel – I stamped her and the frog onto a small die cut circle of card using ‘watering can’ Archival ink, then shaded them with my Pergaliner pencils.

Next was to sort her background. I found a dark blue piece of Indian Summer companion that I trimmed to fit on an A6 card blank and cut a strip of yellow Amazonia paper to go across the top using one of the Doodle Heart Frame-it border dies.

I popped a scrap of card under the top of the circle die cut so it would sit flat across the papers and glued it into place. I found the perfect sentiment in the new Christmas Rub On sentiments – the white was ideal again the blue paper. My final touch was to run a Quickie glue pen over Mabel’s wings and sparkle them with a little Perga glitter!

Now you may have noticed that Mabel’s little froggy friend is grey, rather than green. Do you suppose a spell went wrong and she’s going to help him, or is she about to kiss a prince? What fairytales will you base your card on to play along with us at Sparkles?
