leafy frames

Hello everyone! I’ve got another of my demo cards from Clarity’s Open Days to share with you (I am gradually working my way through the box of samples!). It’s another using the Elementree stamps, but this time with the abstract squares stencil

This one works for a couple of current challenges, starting with the ‘frames’ theme at Double D (all these squares look like small frames) and also, unsurprisingly, Stencil Fun. They’ve got an optional theme of ‘summer fun’ and I think my card suggests a countryside walk on a summer’s day…

Anyway, on to the process. I lined the stencil up over a 4.25″ square of stencil card (having masked the card edges off with low tack tape) and brushed ‘scattered straw’ and ‘broken china’ Distress Inks through it, which gave me a lovely green blend in the centre.

I then stamped a variety of the smaller leafy images into the squares with ‘watering can’ Archival Ink, using low tack tape to mask off the lower edge each time. I drew a few birds with a micron pen, then popped the topper onto a mount cut with one of the film strip nested square doodle frame-it panel dies and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. The final touch was one of the Pinky Gray greetings stickers.

And just to show you how busy I was at the Open Days (don’t want you thinking I was slacking and enjoying myself!), here’s another haul of toppers waiting to be turned into cards!
