Bouquet butterfly

Hello crafty friends. I’m busy gearing up for Clarity Social TV tomorrow (Friday) at 10am & 2pm, so thought I’d share a peek of one of the stamp sets I’ll be showcasing. This lovely little bouquet butterfly is part of the kaleidoscope of butterflies stamp & die collection and is fantastic for summery birthday cards.

As ever, I’ve incorporated a few challenges for this one, starting with the birthday theme at AAA Cards. My summery colours and sky pick up the ‘hot’ theme at Inkspirational and you don’t need to be Einstein to see I’ve got both butterfly and blooms for Triple B.

The first step was to put the pre-cut reusable mask that comes with the stamps onto a small square of Clarity’s stencil card. I could then use the small clouds from the build a scene masks set to brush ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide into the sky, with the outer part of a moon mask and a little ‘dried marigold’ for a summer sun.

There was a reason for using the mask first before stamping the butterfly… The wings are two separate stamps (so they can be used on the die cut), so it gave me an outline to get them in the right place and fit the body between them!

And then it was a simple matter of shading all the flowers on the butterfly with my trusty Pergaliner pencils (although I now wish I’d gone with the red for the body, rather than black & grey!) I added the sentiment from the small monarch butterfly stamp set and ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper. After embossing a frame onto the front of a 5×5 card blank with one of my favourite square embedders, my butterfly had the perfect home to flutter into!

So I do hope you can join me tomorrow at 10am & 2pm (UK time) over on Clarity’s YouTube page to celebrate more butterfly beauties!
