Hello again! I’m back with a second post today, this time for our new theme of ‘spots or stripes’ at As You See It Challenge thanks to my teamie Jan – there are so many possibilities with this! I’ve used an offcut of a gel press print that I found in my folder from last summer’s Clarity retreat as the background for the star flower spray stamp (that piece of card was a lucky find!)

I’ve picked up the tones from Colorful Options and will also share this with Neglected Stuff‘s challenge – I’ve already admitted that the background piece had been sat in my retreat folder since last summer, and it’s almost a year since the stamp set saw action!

I can’t show you the process for creating this background as it was during the retreat, but essentially we dragged Distress Inks across a gelli plate, lightly pressed Clarity’s BOW-WOB papers onto it, lifted the paper off (it picks up the colour onto the white areas but resists it where it is black) and then pulled a print from the gelli plate onto stencil card. It’s a fa technique (and about as messy as I can manage to get!)

Anyway, having found this perfectly stripey little piece in my folder, I simply stamped the star flower spray onto it with black Archival ink and shaded it with Pergaliner pencils.

Having edged the little topper with a black Sharpie I mounted it on a piece of Waimea Falls companion paper and sat it within a frame I’d created on the front of an A6 card blank with one of Clarity’s rectangle embedders. The final touch was one of the stickers from the new Birthday & Christmas collection

So, are you Team spots or Team stripes? Come and play along with us at As You See It – we’re looking forward to seeing you in our gallery!

That striped piece was indeed a find and far too lovely to be languishing in the bits box! I’m so glad it found a home, paired up with those glorious florals. 🙂

Great technique – I always create lots using my gel plate – then ‘file’ them somewhere…..I must go and look xx

Such a cool background – and very cool that you were able to find it to use it later on, lol! I’m ‘missing’ so much stuff after our move. I know it will turn up but it’s driving me nuts getting to that point. Nice card, friend!
