home word framer for Love to Craft challenge

Hello again! I’m back with a second blog challenge card for the start of the month, this time for Love to Craft using the home framer stamp that I was demoing with on my Clarity Social TV show last week. As always, our theme at Love to Craft is ‘anything goes’, so there’s lots of potential to join in.

The original inspiration for this card came from my Clarity team-mate, Jane Telford, with one of her samples from when these stamps were first released a number of years ago. She created the background with pieces of torn copy paper, but we’ve now got the fab landscape masks set from Clarity which made my life so much easier for this card! Now stand by, cos there’s a significant amount of masking on the way…!

I first stamped the word framer into the centre of a 5×5 piece of stencil card and covered the centre of the O with the precut mask that comes with the stamps. I then laid the ‘south downs’ mask across the card, so that I could remove one section at a time to create my landscape, using ‘pumice stone’ and ‘hickory smoke’ Distress Oxides with stencil brushes and sponged to the extra shading. The moon on the mask was a little larger than I wanted, so I swapped it for one of the others in the set once I got to the sky area.

I swapped the mask from the O for the outer part to cover up my monochrome landscape and stamped the little house and foliage from the set into the aperture. I sponged a little ‘rustic wilderness’ and ‘broken china’ Distress Oxides into the top and bottom to create my little scene, then shaded in the house and bushes with Pergaliner pencils.

With the mask fully removed, I added the two cats and foliage into the landscape, then used the potted plants Alphabet stamps to add ‘new’. With a black mount and a 6×6 card blank it was all done.

I love the sense of looking from the grey landscape through to the brighter scene of a new home – a great idea of Jane’s! Do come and share your crafty creations with us at Love to Craft – this challenge runs to the 15th June. Meanwhile, I’m going to share this inky creation in the gallery at Addicted to Stamps & More where their theme is ‘make your mark’.

  2. Great card. I love the pop of color on a gray card. The gray details are well thought out. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to Stamps and More!
