Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had a lovely Easter Day – mine has been busy with church this morning (and a shared breakfast before the service) and then all the family over for lunch. Everyone’s gone home now, so I’ve grabbed a few minutes to share today’s card with you based on the mid-month challenge of ‘doodled with love’ over on Clarity’s Mini Makes and ATCs Facebook page. As you can see, I’ve combined a couple of stamp sets for this one – the love – feel good words set and the lovely heart shaped doodle flower.

I’ve pulled a couple of other challenges into this one as well, taking the layout (and rotating it) from Atlantic Hearts and the pretty shades from Color Hues

I started by cutting a piece of white card to fit on a UK A6 size card and stamped the large sentiment into the centre. I stamped the outline with ‘watering can’ Archival ink, then sponged ‘salvaged patina’ and ‘shaded lilac’ Distress Oxides onto the infill stamp before adding it to the outline. I covered the letters with the pre-cut mask that comes with the stamps and set about adding the doodle flowers. I first stamped the heart shaped flower with it’s stem to sit within the V, then masked off the stem for the others that I stamped around the image. I coloured the inner hearts with a lilac Pergaliner pencil, then added the ‘salvaged patina’ ink to the outer part of the petals using a blending nib (I squished the ink onto a Clarity mix mat so I could pick it up with my nib). Once coloured, I used a rectangle embedder to emboss a frame around the centre.

I kept the embedder in place after embossing with it and lightly brushed the ‘shaded lilac’ around the outer part of the card before attaching it to the A6 card blank. I really wish that I’d used a slightly larger embedder to mask the frame off, so that you could still see where I’d embossed it, but too late now!

For me, love is one of the words (along with hope) that sum up the Easter message.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16
