fave retired tool at As You See It challenge

Welcome to my second card today, and I won’t apologise for it being another Easter themed one as it is Good Friday. Now we have a very interesting challenge at As You See It courtesy of my design team buddy Heather, who wants to see us using those retired or discontinued craft tools that we won’t part with. I may have pushed the boundary a bit, but I went with a stamp I bought from Clarity Crafts back in the day when I hadn’t been crafting very long and that’s no longer available. I love this little Easter stained glass window stamp and I use it on my cards most years.

I decided to put one of the new landscape toppers & tags to use – these little tags are just 2.5″ x 3″ and the perfect size for my image, which I stamped in black Archival ink. I shaded in the frame and the trees with Pergaliner pencils, also adding a little shadow below the three crosses on the horizon. The sentiment is from Clarity’s essential sentiments set.

I then spent some time trying to decide how to mount it…! I spotted that the colours on a piece of the Toscana designer card worked well against the tag, so trimmed it down to fit on an A6 card blank and simply glued the tag in place.

Now I promised you an further update on my plans for today in this morning’s post. Well, I’m spending the afternoon with friends in central London at Trafalgar Square – we’ll be watching the Passion Play being staged there, which is a re-enactment of the events surrounding Christ’s crucifixion. I’ve never been before and am fascinated to see it.

  1. I can see why you want to keep this little stamp! It’s thoughtful and meaningful and the way you created the background for it is amazing!

  2. It’s rare to find a good Easter stamp, so I can see why you’d want to hang on to this one! I love your two beautiful backgrounds here, the blended alcohol inks and that lovely soft pastel landscape! This is such a pretty card, Deborah!
