starry Christmas tree

Hello there – here I am with this week’s Christmas card (not bad considering it’s now April and I’ve kept going so far…!) I’ve gone back to Linda’s Home for Christmas set today for this fab tree, based loosely on the sketch from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (I hope the team there don’t think my interpretation is too loose…!) I love the colours from Hand Stamped Sentiments as well and Peace on Earth‘s theme is always ‘anything goes’.

I started today with a piece of card that I’d cleaned my brayer off on and cut it down to fit on a 5×5 card blank – the background colour was ideal for HSS’s palette. I stamped the tree with ‘library green’ Archival ink then shaded it with Pergaliner pencils, blending a turquiose and dark green to get the right deep teal shade. I’d previously cut a mask for the tree from Clarity’s blank material, so covered it over and sponged ink across a bit of torn copy paper for the ground. I then stamped one of the solid stars from Linda’s wish upon a star set three times onto the tree and heat embossed them with WOW’s metallic copper powder.

I heat embossed the sentiment with the copper powder and highlighted the baubles on the tree with a white Posca pen. I then cut the topper down a little using one of the ‘film strip‘ nested doodle frame-it panel dies and added a mount of Antarctica companion paper. I used a square embedder to emboss the frame on a 5×5 card blank and sat the topper neatly within it.

I think this is another design that will be useful for batch-making later in the year when I’m ready to go – hopefully by then I’ll have lots to choose from!
