Hello! Welcome to today’s crafty blog and another look at the new ‘Japanese floral tiles‘ from Clarity Crafts. This time I’ve just used one of the three-way overlay stamps – being able to combine all three of a design, or two of them, or use onay of them on their own really adds to the mileage you can get from this set. I’ve pulled a few challenegs together again for this card – the layout is from Freshly Made Sketches (I flipped it to sit on the other side of the card), I’ve picked up the bottom row of TicTacToe‘s grid with ombre, square and diecut, and finally Stencil Fun.

So here’s a quick run through of my process… I started with a small square of stencil card that I’d cleaned my brayer on from a previous project (didn’t writ. on it which inks I’d used, but it looks like ‘festive berries’, ‘carved pumpkin’ & ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxides). I used the ‘dotty wave‘ stencil and brushed a little of the ‘carved pumpkin’ through it, then stamped the mandala (the middle one of the three) in ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

I used a nested circle die to cut into a square of stencil card, then brushed a little more of the ‘carved pumpkin’ onto it around the aperture. I could then glue the stamped card onto the back , so that the mandala sat neatly in the centre of the aperture.

I added one of the bijou Japanese symbols stamps, again with the ‘watering can’ Archival , then added more scrap card onto the back of the topper to even it out. I mounted it on a piece of grey Shenandoah companion party and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I’ve been talking about the meaning of colours in Japanese culture over the last couple of days and today is no different. Yellow and orange symbolise love and happiness, which is why I chose the sentiment!
