Japanese butterfly birthday

Hello everyone! It’s been a beautiful weekend here on the edge of London – so nice to see the sunshine! I decided that the beautiful palette at Creative Colour challenges and the layout at Atlantic Hearts would combine perfectly for a card with a lovely spring feel and another outing for the new ‘Japanese flowers & butterflies sampler‘ stamp set from Clarity Crafts.

My starting point was a piece of card cut to fit an A6 card blank, then stamped the round image from the ‘peace’ butterfly section and the sentiment from the ‘bijou retro sentiments‘ set, all in black Archival ink. I used all the infill stamps in the set to colour the image (they are helpfully numbered on the indexing sheet so you know exactly which part of the image they fit – especially useful for the small leaves), using ‘carved pumpkin’ for the butterfly, ‘mustard seed’ for the flowers and ‘blueprint sketch’ for the leaves. I decided to also colour the frame – there’s no infill stamp for this so I used a Pergaliner pencil (A4).

It was then a simple matter to cover the A6 card blank with a piece of Antarctica companion paper and pop the topper onto it.

The spring flowers are starting to appear here – there’s blossom on the trees in the streets and my daffodils are getting ready to bloom!
