Christmas cat

Hello crafty friends and welcome to this week’s Christmas card! I still had the ‘cats & dogs silhouette miniatures‘ stamps on my desk from last week’s shows, so thought I’d put them to use in partnership with the trees from ‘Linda’s winter wishes‘. I’ve manage to combine a few challenges into this card – the layout is from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (I rotated it 180 degrees), Addicted to CAS are looking for ‘pets’ and it’s always ‘anything goes’ at The Holly and Ivy challenge

I’m feeling very pleased with myself, as I started with another of my inky mop-ups on one of Claruity’s small stencil card squares – I think I used ‘chipped sapphire’ & ‘speckled egg’ for this one. I cut it down with a nested circle die, then stamped the cat and the two smaller trees from the ‘winter wishes’ set in ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide. I held a torn piece of copy paper across the bottom, so just the base of the cat & trees were showing, then sponged a little more of the ink across it to give them ground to sit on.

I turned to the card blank (it’s a 6×6) and embossed a frame with a square embedder. I ran low tack tape across the bottom of the card, then stamped the largest tree twice to sit on the base of the frame. I esitimated how high I needed to go for the trees to show above the top of the circle and then stamped the tree twice more, all in the ‘chipped sapphire’. It looks a bit of a mess, but the die cut will be covering the centre!

I sponged a little of the blue ink across the base of the trees on the card blank before I removed the masking tape, then glued the topper into place. I finished with three little stars from ‘Linda’s wish upon a star‘ set and the sentiment from the ‘KISS – sentiment rounds‘. These are great semi-circle sentiments, but I only wanted the ‘merry Christmas’ section, so masked it off with low tack tape before inking it then stamped it to sit around the topper.

Nice and simple – just the way I like it! And I’m feeling pretty good that I’m into March and still managing one Christmas card each week!
