moonlit stag

Welcome to this week’s Christmas card – seven weeks in and I’m still on track of making one each week! You may recall that I completely fell in love with the various Clarity Crafts landscape treescape stamps & masks last year – well, Barbara Gray will be back on Clarity Social TV tomorrow with some new addtions to the collection and I can’t wait to see them! Until then, however, I’ve had to content myself with playing with the existing ones, which is no great hardship to be honest!

I’ve gone with the ‘highlands treescape‘ stamps for this one (I do love a stag on a Christmas card), paired with the ‘south downs’ landscape mask – read one for the details.

Once again, I’ve managed to combine a few challenges for this card. the layout is from Cardz4Guys and the tones from Color Dare, with the ‘masculine’ theme from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and Peace on Earth‘s ‘anything goes’.

I found a diecut circle of card in my scraps box which was perfect for the sketch and decided to create a landscape on it. I layered all the pieces of the ‘south downs’ mask, then removed the ground ones each in turn and sponged a little ‘peacock feathers’ Distress Oxide across them to give the effect of a snowy landscape. Having put them all back in place, I removed the sky mask, leaving the moon and brushed ‘dusty concord’ across the card, using a sponge to deepend the colour around the moon and to drag a little ‘black soot’ around the top.

Having removed all the masks, I added the tree and stag from the ‘highland treescape’ set using black Archival ink.

I was pondering how to add the stripes from the sketch and had a flash of inspiration (it’s a rare event!) to use the ‘occasions’ sentiment stamp across the top & bottom of a piece of Clarity’s 6×4.5 inch cardstock. I ran a black Sharpie around the edges, attached the landscape topper into the centre an added it to the front of a 5×7 card blank that I’d trimmed down slightly so it had the right proportions.

Well this has definitely evolved into a rather nice card!
