Hello friends. I’ve got an older stamp to share with you from Clarity Crafts‘ extensive range (and their Members’ Half Price Sale is still going strong if you belong to one of their Craft Clubs!) This is the ‘garden heart‘ stamp, which has a lovely intricate design. I’ve made it into a wedding card, which fits the ‘love’ theme of a few challenges – the colours are from Color Throwdown, Simply CAS and Double D are looking for ‘hearts’, and The Flower Challenge have gone for ‘pink’.

Now the heart stamp is a single image but I wanted to make the birds a different colour, so I first inked the whole piece up with ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxide, then used a cotton bud to clean the ink off the two little birds. I could then add ‘walnut stain’ back to them, again with a cotton bud picking the ink up directly from the pad (just as you would with a sponge). I stamped it straight onto a 6×6 card blank and decided it needed a frame of some sorts. Out came the ‘spring build a wreath’ stamp set and I repeat stamped one of the little floral flourishes around the edge of the heart, again in the ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxide.

I decided that all it needed was one of the ‘art nouveau’ sentiments, stamped in ‘potting soil’ Archival onto a strip of card to finish it. Actually, that’s not totally accurate – I initially stamped the sentiment directly onto the card and managed to smudge it, so rescued it with the strip of card!

I’m a bit late posting this evening – I don’t know where the day has gone!

Such a pretty wedding card! The heart stamp is so intricate and the added flourish design around the edge looks amazing. TFS the tip on adding colors to a stamp too. Thanks for linking up with the Double D, “Heart” Challenge.

Deborah, your painstaking steps to ink up these beautiful images certainly paid off, this card is so, so beautiful! Well done stamping the birds in brown and it’s amazing that the wreath worked so perfectly around the stamped heart (and maybe they were meant to do that, I’m not familiar with those stamps). Thanks so much for sharing over at The Flower Challenge!

Such a great idea to stamp the birds in another color to make them show up, Deborah. This is such a sweet card and I’m glad you shared it with us at The Flower Challenge.
