Hello there! It’s time for this month’s sketch challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and Rachel’s design gave me a good excuse (like I needed one!) to crack open another of the new ‘build a wreath’ stamp sets from Clarity Crafts. The ‘spring‘ set arrived in my delivery box last week, together with a brilliant new Clarity innovation – stamp pens!! These are very clever small perspex pieces mounted on Clarity’s Pergamano handles and are just perfect for working with small stamps, like the ones in the wreath sets. You use them just like a pen – it’s really easy to see where you are placing the image.

I thought the lovely palette from Color Dare was perfect for spring flowers. Just Add Ink‘s ‘new’ theme works for both the stamps and the stamp pens – Simply Clean & Simple have also got an optional twist of ‘new’, so that’s a win all round!

I started with a square of white card and drew a wiggly pencil guideline across the bottom right-hand corner of the card before stamping one of the leafy sprays in ‘shaded lilac’ Distress Oxide using a stamp pen. that gave me a framework to then add in two of the flower images (again with the stamp pens) in ‘spun sugar’ and ‘kitsch flamingo’.

The sentiments were also stamped in the ‘shaded lilac’, picking ‘with love’ from the ‘entwined sentiments‘ and ‘mum’ from ‘Barbara’s relations‘ set. A mount of lilac companion paper and a 6×6 card blank and it was finished.

It’s Mother’s Day here in the UK at the end of March, so I’m starting early in getting some stock ready! We’d love to see what you do with our sketch.
