glittery trees

Hello friends! What a busy weekend, with ClarityCrafts Open Days on Friday & Saturday, followed by a taught workshop with Barbara Gray today! I thought I’d share with you one of the designs I was demonstrating at the Open Days, once again using the fab new ‘South Downs Treescape‘ stamps & co-ordinating landscape masks – I do hope you’re not tired of these yet, as there’s still a few more to come!

I started by embossing a a frame onto a 4.5inch (10.8cm) square of stencil card, then ran masking tape around the edges to protect it and laid all the mask pieces onto the card. I started at the bottom, working up one piece at a time and lightly sponged ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxide across each to create a snowline.

I kept all the mask pieces on the ground area, then removed the sky mask leaving the moon in place. I brushed ‘broken china’ & ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxides across the whole area, stating with the lighter shade and blending it upwards to cover about two thirds, then switching to the dark blue and travelling downwards from the top for about two thirds. I took a spot-on sponge and swept a little more of the ‘chipped sapphire’ in from the masking tape to sharpen the edges of the sky.

Having removed all the mask pieces, I lightly rubbed an anti-static pad across the card – I wanted to add glitter and knew it would cling to the areas where the masks had sat. I stamped the two trees from the ‘South Downs’ set, then traced the their outlines and the snowlines with a Quickie glue pen. I could then scatter glitter across them for a sparkly winter scene.

Once the glue was fully dry, I added a mount of Antarctica companion paper, embossed another frame onto the front of a 6×6 card blank with a square embedder and attached the topper to sit within it. The final touch was an appropriate Pinky Gray greetings sticker.

I know I keep saying it, but these stamps are just so versatile! Who would think that this is the same set as yesterday’s autumnal card? While you ponder on that, I’m heading off to share this with the challenges at TicTacToe (I took the elements from the top row of their grid), SketchSaturday (a slightly loose interpretation of their layout) and Addicted to CAS for their ‘snow’ theme.
